The third mantra of love by Thich Nhat Hanh is a soft, powerful recognition:

“I know you suffer, and I am here for you.”

This mantra is not about fixing, solving, or analyzing—it’s about acknowledging. It’s about opening space. To say “I know you suffer” is to honor the quiet weight someone carries. To say “I am here for you” is to offer your presence as sanctuary.

Suffering, in its deepest form, is self-created—arising when we begin to resist our reality, reject our feelings, and retain neglected unprocessed experiences (veils). These veils can distort our connection to love and silence our inner truth.

But when suffering is acknowledged—gently, mindfully—it begins to loosen. Which is the first step in processing experiences.

This song, “I Know You Suffer,” is an offering of presence. And as you listen, you may choose to imagine yourself saying this mantra to someone you love…

Or—to your own inner child, your own tired heart.

Or—you may let the infinite, loving consciousness speak these words to you:

“I know you suffer. I am here for you.”

Whether shared outwardly or inwardly, this mantra invites us to sit with suffering without judgment—and to love through the pain.

Let this song be your stillness.

Let it be your open door.

Let it be the way you say, “You are not alone.”

I Know You Suffer – Official Lyrics:

I see the storm behind your smile,

The tired eyes that’ve wept a while.

No need to hide, no need to speak.

Your pain is safe with me.

I know you suffer.

I am here for you.

I know you suffer.

I am here for you. (for you)

In this breath, in this space,

You are held in love and grace.

I know you suffer…

And I am here for you.

The weight you carry, hard to name,

The silent ache, the quiet flame…

I won’t pretend to take it all—

But I won’t let you fall.

I know you suffer.

I am here for you.

I know you suffer.

I am here for you. (for you)

Even if we say no more,

My love waits at your door.

I know you suffer…

And I am here for you.

In this stillness,

I walk beside you.

No fixing. No rushing.

Only presence… only truth.

I know you suffer.

I am here for you.

I know you suffer.

I am…

here for you.
